than your tyre.
That's it. Read the second number on your tyre sidewall (that's the width in inches) and choose the next flap size up. Want bigger coverage? Go one wider again.
Don't worry about tyre poke or offset. The flaps mount to suit where your tyre actually sits, so how far it stands proud of the guard doesn't change the width you order. That's sorted at install.
What Size Mud Flaps Do I Need?
12"
Tyres up to 11.5" wide: stock or mildly modified, typically up to 33" diameter 1.25" kickback
13"
12.5" wide tyres: the most common size on a levelling kit or small lift, 33"-36" diameter 1.25" kickback
14"
13.5" wide tyres: mid to high lift, 33"-37" diameter 1.5" kickback
16"
14.5" wide and up: serious builds on 12"+ wide wheels, 35"-40" diameter 2.25" kickback
Diameter is a guide only. width is what decides it. If your tyre width falls between two sizes, go up.
Running a dually? Dually flaps use their own sizing: 22", 24", 26" and 28" widths to suit 12.50 and 13.50 tyres, available as a rear pair or a full set of four in both Standard and Long-John profiles.

Why they cost what they cost
A universal plastic flap is under a hundred dollars and lasts a season on corrugations. These are full stainless steel, laser cut in Canada to suit your exact truck, lift and tyre size, with 1.25" to 2.25" kickback so oversized rubber clears properly. North American manufacturing, not an offshore stamping. Different product, different price. You buy them once.
Mud Flap Questions, Answered
What size mud flaps do I need?
Match your tyre width and round up. Read the second number on your tyre sidewall. On a 35x12.50R17 that's 12.50", so you want the 13" flaps. As a guide: 12" suits tyres up to 11.5" wide, 13" suits 12.5" wide, 14" suits 13.5" wide, and 16" suits 14.5" and wider. If you want extra coverage, go one size wider again. Tyre poke and offset don't change the width you need, because the flaps mount to suit where your tyre sits.
What is kickback on a mud flap?
Kickback is the angle the flap is set out from vertical so it clears an oversized tyre. Without it, a wide tyre catches the flap on articulation or under load. Trigger flaps run 1.25" kickback on 12" and 13" widths, 1.5" on 14", and 2.25" on 16".
What is the difference between Standard and Long-John mud flaps?
Standard flaps cover roughly one third of the wheel arch. They suit USA trucks with fender flares, Australian 4x4s and utes, and general daily driving. Long-John flaps are extended height for maximum wheel arch coverage and the most protection from road debris, making them the choice for a serious build or heavy towing.
Do Trigger mud flaps fit a dually?
Yes. Dually-specific flaps come in 22", 24", 26" and 28" widths to suit 12.50 and 13.50 tyres, available as a rear pair or a full set of four, in both Standard and Long-John profiles.
Do I need a vehicle-specific fitting kit?
Some vehicles do. The fitting kit is selected in the options on the product page and the price adjusts automatically, so you don't buy it separately. If your truck isn't listed, choose "RAM 2500/3500 & others (no kit needed)".
What colours are Trigger mud flaps available in?
Black powdercoat is standard and dispatches fastest. White powdercoat is available in Ford Oxford White, GM Summit White and Ram Bright White. Black Rock Guard textured finish and full polished stainless are also available. You can supply a paint code for a custom colour (allow up to four weeks).
Where are Trigger mud flaps made?
Trigger Industries manufacture in Canada. Every set is laser cut there in stainless steel and shipped to our Gold Coast warehouse, where we hold the popular sizes in stock. That's North American manufacturing to a spec, not an offshore stamping bought by the pallet, and it's a big part of why they cost what they cost and why they last. Are stainless steel mud flaps worth it over plastic ones?

These are full stainless steel with heavy rubber matting, laser cut and made to order for your exact truck, lift and tyre size. They're a different product at a different price, and you buy them once.
Can I get Long-John flaps in a custom length?
Yes. Long-John flaps can be made to a custom length at additional cost. Plenty of builds run the steel the full length of the wheel arch, so the flap carries on up and around to replace or act as a flare rather than just hanging behind the tyre. It's the most aggressive look in the range and it puts stainless where road debris actually hits. Contact us with your truck, tyre size and how far you want the steel to run and we'll quote it. Allow up to four weeks for a custom length.
How long do Trigger mud flaps take to arrive in Australia?
Popular sizes ship straight away. We hold the fast movers here on the Gold Coast (Standard 13" is the most common), so for a lot of builds it's out the door as soon as you order. Anything we don't have on the shelf is cut to your spec in Canada and normally with you in under two weeks.
